Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword is a popular mod for Mount and Blade Warband set in 17th century Poland. The mod was originally created by a guy called Pedro; he had given up on the development and maintenance of it after many years, and then some other guy called Nanty took over. The most recent version of the mod is 1.138. It was released on October 27, 2015, but no new versions have been released since then despite the community calling for updates; only bug fixes for existing issues (e.g. the horse archery bug), or newer maps (notably that of Sedziszów, the last remaining town in the game that is not yet part of the 1.138 map) have been released. According to some players, 1.138 has many bugs and issues; there are many quests which are extremely vague or even impossible to complete with no hints or guidance from the developers, making it difficult to play without numerous deaths. The mod does not support mods at all meaning that new weapons and items can't be added via mods. However, the community has worked together to make new versions of 1.138 compatible with other mods, for example, versions made using 'Viking Conquest' are compatible with 'Holy War - Pt.1', 'Viking Conquest' is compatible with 'Norsefire', while versions made using the latest version of the mod are also compatible with older versions. It was released in May 2017. A sequel to "With Fire & Sword", "With Fire & Sword II" was released in 2016. It is set in Northern Europe during the Thirty Years' War. The latest version of WF&SII is 1.6. "With Fire & Sword" was nominated for the Special Award in Mod DB's Mod of the Year Awards 2006. It was also nominated for the "Best Total Conversion Mod" in Game Front's Best of 2006 Awards. The mod received a "PC Gamer" Editor's Choice Award.
